This year, I finally made it to the Tompkins Square Halloween Dog Parade! It fell on a rainy day and while I dislike rain and I dislike cold, my love for dogs much outweighs both. A bit of gentle persuasion from my partner in crime for the day didn’t hurt (we were guilty of eating dim sum to our bursting points and watching way too many episodes of Mr. Robot at once).
We arrived late to the event but I managed to photograph a few pups that were still waiting for the results of the Best in Show prize – spoiler: a team of dogs dressed as candy at the candy store won.
After seeing the first dog dressed in a cute police officer uniform with a little pun attached to his back, I knew we’d see lots of winning costumes. Its owners dressed up as thieves too!
So. Much. FOOD. I’m disappointed that I didn’t see more pizza dogs.
I applaud the dog owners who fully committed to their costumes! They turned out so well!
Dog costumes with pseudo arms make me laugh; especially if they’re chasing someone. Have you ever seen the full body superhero costumes?
This dog rocks more expensive headphones than I do!
And the pop culture references extended to much loved shows. If you haven’t watched Stranger Things, I recommend it!
